How Does a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Differ from a Facial Plastic Surgeon?

Unlike a board certified plastic surgeon, a facial plastic surgeon does not receive the facial and body training of a plastic surgeon in medical school, residency, fellowship or beyond, and only concentrates on procedures that reconstruct the elements of the face. A facial plastic surgeon can only be certified under the American Academy of Otolaryngology of the American Board of Medical Specialties, which is not cosmetic focused. Please refer to the American Board of Medical Specialties website for more information.
