What is Lip Augmentation?
Genetics and aging both contribute to the size and shape of an individual’s lips. Some are born with full, attractive lips, whereas others may not be as fortunate. As the face ages and the skin loses its elasticity, the skin between the nose and upper lip tends to lengthen. The lips also begin to lose volume over the years. These combined effects contribute to shrunken lips, which many patients turn to lip augmentation to correct. Lip augmentation is a lip enhancement treatment that can restore lip volume to improve the size and shape of the lips. At Layton Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we offer the following lip augmentation treatments:
- Lip Injections
- Facial Fat Transfer
- Lip Implants
- Skin Resurfacing
- Excision of Excess Skin
How Much Does Lip Augmentation Cost?
The cost of a lip augmentation procedure can vary. Lip implants cost about $2,400, while the cost of other techniques can vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary to produce your desired results. During your consultation, Dr. Layton will be able to provide you with a treatment plan that matches your specific needs. At this point, we will be able to provide you with the exact cost of your treatment. We also offer financing services to help make this and other treatments more affordable.
How is Lip Augmentation Performed?
The lip augmentation procedure will depend on the treatment method you choose. Lip injections, fat transfers, and skin resurfacing treatments are all fairly simple treatments with little to no downtime. Removing excess skin and inserting lip implants require more extensive treatment. For lip implants, Dr. Layton uses the SurgiSil Perma Facial Implant™. The Perma Facial Implant™ is available in many sizes and can be used in both upper and lower lips. This is the ideal implant for lip augmentation because it can be easily removed at any time. It is also immune to rupturing and deflation. If the patient chooses to surgically remove excess skin near the lips, a small incision will be made through which excess skin will be trimmed and tightened. These procedures can be performed in-office under local anesthesia.
How is Recovery After Lip Augmentation?
The recovery from your lip augmentation procedure will depend on the techniques used during treatment. Generally, recovery from lip augmentation procedures is mild and will not severely impact your normal activities. During your consultation with Dr. Layton, he will let you know what you can expect during recovery and provide you with specific recovery instructions after developing your personalized treatment plan.
