How is Earlobe Repair Performed?

The earlobe repair procedure is performed in-office and only requires local anesthesia. First, a small incision is made in the earlobe. Then, skin is removed to reduce the earlobe to the appropriate shape and size. Stitches are used to close the incision and are placed in an inconspicuous place so that a scar is not visible.

What is Recovery Like After Earlobe Repair?

The recovery following earlobe repair is fairly simple. Sutures are removed about one week following the earlobe repair procedure. In most cases, a thin layer of antibiotic ointment is the only dressing applied. A little drainage from the wound is to be expected. The ear can be re-pierced eight weeks after the procedure.
