What is the Chin Augmentation Procedure Like?

Chin augmentation is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes an hour to complete. During the procedure, an incision is made either underneath the chin or on the inside of the mouth. This results in scarring that is virtually invisible. Through the incision, the implant will be placed on top of and secured to the lower jaw bone. Once secured, the chin implant will look and feel like your natural chin.

What is Recovery Like Following a Chin Augmentation?

After the chin augmentation surgery, we will apply a bandage to the chin that will be worn for a few days. Pain is usually minimal, but patients can expect some tenderness and swelling over the first several days. It is also common for the chin to feel tight as the skin adjusts to the size of the implant, but this feeling typically fades in about a week.
