What is a Butt Lift?

A butt lift removes excess skin through an incision around the hip and above the buttocks. A butt lift can vastly improve body shape and form. If needed, a portion of this excess skin and fat can be left to provide an auto-augmentation to increase buttock volume while still lifting and removing excess skin and fat.

How is a Butt Augmentation Performed?

There are several options for butt augmentation, and each of these options offers a different treatment experience. At Layton Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we offer the following butt augmentation techniques:

Butt Augmentation via Implants —A butt augmentation using implants is similar to placing breast implants. All butt implants are made out of silicone, just like the popular breast implant material. During the procedure, an incision is made in the buttock crease between the two cheeks. A pocket for the implant is developed in the superficial muscle layers of each check of the buttock. The implants are then placed in the pockets and the skin is closed.

Butt Augmentation with Emsculpt® — Emsculpt® is the first and only non-surgical butt augmentation option. Emsculpt® uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy, or HIFEM® energy, to trigger muscle contractions in the treatment area. These rapid muscle contractions burn fat and strengthen the muscles, resulting in toning, firming, and growth in the weeks following treatment. For optimal results, we typically recommend a series of treatments. Emsculpt® requires no downtime, so it is a convenient option for most patients.

Butt Augmentation with Fat Injections — Fat injections are a popular butt augmentation procedure. This treatment is referred to as the Brazilian butt lift, and uses fat transfer techniques to remove fat from one area of the body and then inject it into the butt for enhanced size, shape, and lift. Butt Augmentation with Dermal Fillers — A non-surgical way to augment the butt is by injecting a dermal filler called Sculptra® into the butt. The material in Sculptra® causes your own tissue to be stimulated and produce natural volume. This is done with in-office injections similar to dermal fillers and injectables, but may require several sessions to achieve the desired results.

How is Recovery After a Butt Augmentation?

The recovery after your butt lift or butt augmentation will depend on the treatment techniques involved. For more invasive treatments, patients may have to wear a compression garment for several weeks after treatment. Drains may also be necessary, but this will be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Layton. Generally, patients will have to avoid sitting directly on the buttocks after their treatment in order to let it heal. This may require taking time away from work and other normal activities.
