During mini facelifts, Dr. Layton creates a short incision, which is half the size of standard facelift incisions. He also uses fewer incisions and tightens the muscle layer instead of cutting through it, reducing swelling and bleeding.

Recovery Period

Facelifts require a more extended recovery period than mini facelifts. After receiving a standard facelift, you could spend the night at the hospital or a full day sleeping at home. Dr. Layton may also require you to avoid heavy work and unnecessary movement for 72 hours, inspect the incisions a week after the surgery, and wear a facial compression wrap throughout the first two weeks. Although swelling reduces throughout the first month, some unnoticeable swelling might persist for up to a year.

On the other hand, mini facelifts only require you to wear a facial compression wrap for 24 hours after surgery. You will recover fully in one month or less with minimal scars and swelling.
